Our Elders

Brian Dye (Oversight: West Garfield Park)

Brian’s passion is "to train leaders in ministry to urban America." In 2006 he founded The Legacy Conference to equip those that are serious about being disciples of Christ to make disciples for Christ. Brian joined the staff of GRIP Outreach For Youth in September 2011 as Mentorship Director and is currently responsible for the training of close to 100 mentors that walk life with fatherless teens. He has been married to his best friend and ministry partner, Heidi, since July 2000.

Erick Correa (Oversight: Belmont Central, Dunning)

Erick was born and raised on the Northwest Side of Chicago.  He and his wife Yesenia have been married since 2007.  They have 2 children; their daughter Soli Deo Gloria, and their son Erick Joshua Andres.  Erick is a church planter and has been serving as Elder at Legacy Christian Fellowship since 2009.  Erick currently oversees two house church plants on Chicago’s North-side in the Dunning Square and Belmont Cragin neighborhoods.  Erick has an extensive background and work experience in the field of fitness and martial arts.  With the bi-vocational church model at Legacy, in addition to serving as an Elder with the church, he also works as a certified personal fitness trainer and a professional mixed martial artist.

Jon Skehan (Oversight: Albany Park)

Jon oversees the church in Albany Park (one of the most culturally diverse neighborhood's in the country), where he has lived the majority of his life.  He and his wife (Emily) have two sons (Micah and Isaiah).  He is a pre-school and early elementary teacher at Breakthrough Urban Ministries.

One of Jon's biggest passions is the Church.  He cares deeply about the people who have been called and gathered together with God, in Christ.  He desires to see the adopted children of God live as they were intended to, as family.  Jon's heart is also for the world.  His efforts in disciple-making and church-planting are done in hope to see the day when every nation and tongue will worship Jesus together in their Father's house.

Kevin Gwin (Oversight: East Garfield Park, Humboldt Park)

Kevin grew up in Lima, OH where he graduated from Temple Christian High School.  He went on to Cedarville University and graduated with a degree in Bible and a minor in Christian Education. He went on to receive a Master’s degree in Christian Formation and Ministry at Wheaton College. Kevin spent four and a half years serving urban youth in Humboldt Park at Inner City Impact.

In 2002, Kevin shared leadership of planting a church on the west side of Chicago. He is still actively involved in leading and shepherding at Legacy Christian Fellowship. Kevin is a strong believer of the power of God working through the local church to change communities. That is why he is excited to be a part of supporting young men and women who have shown themselves committed and faithful to their local church

Lamar Simms (Oversight: Auburn Gresham)

Lamar was born and raised on the south side of Chicago. Although Lamar grew up in church he didn't come to know the Lord until the age of 20. Two months after God had moved on Lamar’s heart he married the mother of his two children. Lamar had a huge heart to see people come to know God. In 2010 Lamar began using spoken word poetry as a platform to share the Gospel with his city. In 2013 Lamar started preaching at the south side church locations of Legacy Christian Fellowship. Lamar lives and serve on the south side of Chicago along with his wife (Sade) and three children Malachi, Melanie and baby Nylah
